Ferrari World

Ferrari World - Yas Island - Abu Dhabi

Kemps Cold Cathode is chosen to illuminate the façade walls to the entrance of the largest indoor theme park in the world!

Kemps are proud to have been involved in the record breaking construction of the new Ferrari World theme park, the largest of its kind, located next to the Formula One racetrack in Abu Dhabi. This contract was procured through Faisal Jassim Trading LLC and the installation was completed in September 2010.

Reflecting Ferrari's colours, Kemps installed over 500m of their Red and Yellow Coveline Cold Cathode lighting in the entrance area creating a striking impact for their client CD&M Lighting Design. Although the timescales were tight, Kemps were able to deliver the material to site within the agreed deadline, allowing the installation to happen in time for the second Grand Prix and the official opening of this futuristic new attraction.

"It's really amazing. You can see uniform wash light with the right intensity between the GRC panel slots. We wanted this "wash" effect and that's the reason we decided against LED, in favour of cold cathode. Using Cold Cathode provided a more even brightness and gave a smoother all round effect" Baiju Chaliyil, CD&M Lighting Design. Thanks also to Bill Johnson also of CD&M Lighting. Installation was supervised under the supervision and guidance of Kemps Abu Dhabi based, Project Manager.

The developers Aldar Properties, who constructed the 25km2 man made Yas Island, have created a truly global tourist attraction with this enormous theme park within the United Arab Emirates.

Luxury Residential Tower

Luxury Residential Tower - Abu Dhabi

Kemps Super Blue Xtreme helps to highlight new residential tower
on the Abu Dhabi skyline.

Completed in July 2010, over 600m of our Xtreme KL-XTR-MLV system was used to highlight the façade of this new Abu Dhabi residential tower on Khalidiya Street, right in the heart of this exciting city.

Stunning Super Blue lamps were used with great results, and have made this tower quite
a landmark on the skyline. With the high temperatures to contend with, Cold Cathode was the ideal choice over similar LED products which, historically do not perform well in this harsh environment. The installation was completed with on-site support and assistance through our local agent, and the contract was procured through local M & E contractor Thermo LLC.

Savoy Hotel

Classic Glamour with Modern Highlights

Kemps are proud to have been instructed by LDI Lighting designers, to supply and install our Cold Cathode system in the iconic Savoy Hotel.

This luxury hotel located in the heart of the West End, theatre district of London opened in 1889 and is still considered to be the place to stay in London. The landmark hotel has 268 rooms and suites, with original Art Deco and Edwardian features throughout.

In 2007 The Savoy closed to undergo a £100 million restoration with the aim to "set new British standards for excellence in design, decor and personalised service".

The brief required Kemps to install their Cold Cathode Coveline 3C system in Warmtone 2800k colour to highlight the corridor and bedroom coves of this elegantly appointed hotel. The 700 metres of Cold Cathode lighting in Warmtone provides soft lighting creating a sophisticated ambience.

To minimise loss of revenue The Savoy had a tight deadline for re-opening and Kemps were able to reduce the on-site time by 50% using the unique Coveline 3C system, which is installed virtually tool free.

After being closed for three years, the hotel is set to re-open in October 2010 in good time for the London Olympics.

Dublin Airport

Innovative Lighting for Dublin's new Terminal

Kemps are excited to have secured an innovative project at Dublin Airport's new terminal. Working alongside renowned consultants Arup, we have been contracted by our client Mercury Electrical to supply and install in excess of 500 metres of the Cold Cathode Coveline 3C system to the new terminal.

In 2009 planning permission was sought to build a second terminal. The estimated cost of this is €600 million. It aims to handle up to 15 million passengers a year and overall it has the potential to raise passenger capacity to 35 million per annum.

This project was secured after months of careful analysis, specification checks and changes. The outcome of the briefing is for 500 metres of the Cold Cathode Coveline 3C system to be installed in Warmtone 2800k and Cobalt blue lamps.

The curvilinear building hopes to achieve an "elegant and contemporary gateway for 21st Century Ireland" of which we are very proud to be a part of. We have already supplied cove lighting in the main shopping mall and carousel area and our product will give in-direct lighting for a natural effect to achieve this stylish and modern image.

By using the energy efficient Cold Cathode system we will be able to minimize the on-site time by up to 50%, due to the virtually tool free installation. Therefore we expect to meet the deadline of completion within 2010.

Abu Dhabi Project

Progressive Lighting for Abu Dhabi's
Unique Complex

Kemps are proud to be supplying approximately 18km of our Cold Cathode lighting system. The lighting is required for an exciting project currently underway in the UAE's Abu Dhabi.

The Middle Eastern project of 23 hectares will boast 17 office towers, 32 residential towers, a shopping mall, a hotel, showrooms and several warehouses for building materials. The project is considered to contain one of the largest Cold Cathode installations yet seen in Abu Dhabi and Kemps are delighted to be associated with it, by supplying the lighting which will run throughout this enormous site.

In 2007 UAE's Manazel Real Estate was awarded $1.1billion to construct the impressive complex and the chairman believes the 'buildings material exchange' to be the first of its kind in the Middle East and will become a hub for manufacturers, importers and suppliers of building equipment alike.

Kemps won the project after many months of discussions, site meetings and approvals to be certain of meeting the exact specifications of such a huge supply of lighting. We will be installing the lighting with Kemps local Project Manager, whom we have worked alongside before on several other projects in Abu Dhabi.
