Kemps is a member of the Recolight WEEE compliance scheme. Recolight is a not-for-profit organisation set up to recycle GDLs, LEDs and luminaires and keep them out of landfill. It was set up by the lighting industry and provides WEEE compliance for lighting manufacturers.

What is WEEE compliance?

Recycling of WEEE (waste electrical and electronic equipment) is part of the waste and recycling industry. The implementation of the original WEEE Directive in the UK came with the WEEE Regulations in 2006. The WEEE Regulations 2013 became law in the UK in 2014.

The aim is to improve the environmental performance of businesses that manufacture, supply, use, and recycle electronics and electrical equipment (EEE). Businesses who sell EEE have obligations under the WEEE Regulations.

Manufacturers and sellers join a compliance scheme to manage their ongoing compliance – Recolight – and these services come free of charge to the end user. The membership funds the collection, recycling, and environmentally friendly disposal.

Our commitment to recyclable lighting products

We are members of the Recolight WEEE scheme and we are compliant WEEE recyclers. Membership means we are committed to ensuring lamp recycling is as easy, efficient, and cost effective.

Our lamps can be recycled simply and at no cost through Recolight. They are the only specialist WEEE compliance scheme to have a dedicated network of collection points.

New UK legislation is published each year and WEEE compliance helps us to stay on top of legislation, making sure we are informed and prepared for any changes. We stay compliant and our customers do too.

Why choose a WEEE compliant manufacturer?

Recyclable lighting products and the future

Sustainability is an ongoing concern and there is much to be done. It’s our commitment as a lighting manufacturer to use the most efficient and lasting LEDs and other electrical components in our products. We make products repairable where possible and design recyclable lighting products.
