We recently supplied LED lighting for a redevelopment project at the 5 star Berkeley Hotel in the heart of Kensington, London.
Kemps were specified by George Sexton Associates (GSA) to provide over 1km of ambient 2700K warm white Proteus LED lighting to subtly complement the redesign of some of the hotel’s luxury suites.

The brief
The hotel is world renowned and we were working on some of its premium rooms, so the fittings specified had to be of the highest quality and blend seamlessly into the space. The hotels décor subtly balances traditional elegance with contemporary chic and the lighting needed to underpin this aesthetic in all areas. As well as setting off the furnishings, the lighting needed to be adaptable to different times of day.
The solution
Paying close attention to detail, we supplied Proteus RGBW for the ballroom ceilings and a bespoke Proteus baffle system to wash light down the perimeter walls.
To provide guests with the ability to set the tone, the lighting has additional 0-10V dimming which is controlled via a wall mounted Lutron touch plate in every suite.
Atmosphere is everything in hotels of this standard and the subtle versatility of Proteus made it the perfect match. Proteus is our slim, linear LED fixture that has been manufactured using the OSRAM Duris LEDs. The excellent colour consistency and rendering of this product has helped to create an elegant and beautiful finish throughout these luxury suites. We will subsequently be working with GSA for the same client – Maybourne Hotel Group – on developments at Claridge’s and the Connaught Hotel.
