Eden Dock in Canary Wharf is a great example of how thoughtful lighting can transform an area into a welcoming public destination. Now enjoyed by office workers throughout the day and local residents in the evening, this waterside space offers a calm and inviting atmosphere that encourages people to stop, sit, relax, and take in their surroundings.
Kemps Architectural Lighting was proud to support the project by supplying our Flexus 3 and Proteus M linear LED products as specified. Chosen for their clean lines and quality of light, these luminaires deliver warm, consistent, high-quality illumination that enhances key features across the space while creating a comfortable ambiance after dark. The result is a lighting scheme that feels both functional and atmospheric, helping Eden Bank become a genuinely warm and inviting place to spend time by the water.
Credit goes to Studio Fractal for their lighting design and to the Architects, Howells and HTA for their innovative design and to Arup for the structural and electrical engineering design.
Great work also to PIP Electrical for the installation, delivering the scheme with excellent attention to detail and a high standard of finish.

Product Overview
For this landmark public realm scheme, Kemps supplied over 700 metres of our high-performance Proteus M and Flexus 3 LED solutions, carefully integrated throughout the landscape to enhance both safety and atmosphere. Our lighting has been expertly installed into the tiered seating, stair handrails, pedestrian bridges, and the kick rails along the water’s edge, delivering a seamless, architectural finish that complements the modern surroundings.
A consistent warm white 2700K colour temperature has been used across the entire project, creating a soft golden glow that feels welcoming and comfortable, perfect for evenings in the city. The result is a space that feels inviting, calm, and premium, encouraging the local community and office workers to relax, gather, and enjoy Eden Bank well into the night.
With Proteus M and Flexus 3 working together across multiple application areas, Kemps Lighting has helped create a stunning waterside location in the heart of Canary Wharf, bringing the architecture and landscape to life with elegant, understated illumination.

At Re-Imagine Canary Wharf, we set out to transform the public realm into a calm, restorative environment that feels distinctly removed from the hard, internal landscapes of the surrounding office buildings. The scheme supports meaningful engagement with green and blue spaces, creating moments of pause and connection within the city.
Warm light tones were carefully selected to counterbalance the cool, rigid character of the commercial context, introducing a sense of comfort and human scale to the external environment. This warmth helps soften the perception of the surrounding built fabric and creates an inviting setting that feels more like a place to dwell than a route to pass through.
All lighting elements were fully integrated and concealed within the architectural features. Luminaires are hidden from direct view, reducing visual clutter and glare and allowing visitors to experience only the gentle illumination of surfaces. Subtle water-ripple gobo projections reference the adjacent dock and reinforce the presence of blue space, ensuring that the lighting complements, rather than dominates, the design.
Consideration of local ecology was integral to the scheme, with strict control of light spill to protect wildlife while maintaining safe, legible movement. The lighting forms part of a wider family of SF-designed public realm spaces across Canary Wharf and Wood Wharf, contributing to a cohesive, sustainable night-time identity rooted in people-focused place making.
